Meet Henry James

Henry James Designs was built with the goal of bringing the art of needlepoint to everyone. My name is Amery, and I am from Houston, Texas. I discovered my love for needlepoint while living in New York City after college. During a demanding season working in marketing, needlepoint became a creative outlet that brought me peace, purpose, and a sense of calm in an otherwise loud and chaotic world.

After moving back to Texas, I quickly realized I wanted to share that same feeling with other women. What started as a personal hobby soon grew into a community-centered business focused on making needlepoint feel approachable, modern, and accessible to all skill levels — especially beginners who may have otherwise felt intimidated to start.

Since then, I have taught more than 1,000 women across the Greater Houston area how to needlepoint through classes, pop-ups, private events, and collaborations with local businesses and brands. My classes are designed to be welcoming, social, and fun — a place where women can slow down, create something with their hands, and connect with one another offline.
